Ripeness is all

This interface prototype is part of a one week elective workshop within WDKA. The challenge was to create a visual and immersive mobile interface, based on a given source: The man who ate everything by Jeffrey Steingarten.
I began by researching immersive interfaces, behavioural design, scrolling behaviours and background movements. Then, I came up with a research question which would become the base of my prototype: What kinds of background motion support story comprehension?
After my research, I selected a paragraph about the ripeness of fruits and made some visual iterations based on that. My goal was to create an abstract app that uses parallax motion and sensory visual metaphor to mirror meaning of Jeffrey Steingarten’s writing.
